Taoyuan County’s Dayuan Jianshan Site Rescue Excavation
Taoyuan County’s Dayuan Jianshan Site became known to the archaeological
community in 1944, and since has been surveyed multiple times. In 2008, the
site was designated the status of county historic site due its significance to
the prehistory of Taoyuan. In response to the expansion of DaYuan Primary
School, a comprehensive archaeology excavation of the site was conducted
in 2011 before campus construction. Findings of the excavation were shared
with the public, especially with middle and elementary school students,
adding an educational aspect to the project.
